Gilbert, AZ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/08/2016 -- STAYPUT MAT, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering widespread support and financial backing to market, manufacture and distribute The StayPut Mat drawing mat.
The StayPut Mat is a multi-purpose non-slip drawing mat that works with all standard letter sized paper. Originally developed for use in early childhood development, the StayPut Mat has been found to be particularly useful for toddlers learning to write, draw, paint, or color. In addition, The StayPut Mat has also been tested in the medical and rehabilitation arenas and has been by utilized persons with medical limitations and as an occupational therapy writing aid.
After using the StayPut Mat in her classroom, one Oregon teacher responded "Working in young classrooms, one of the frustrations is tapping down the paper for children so that they could draw. It is time consuming with eight little kiddos, as you can imagine. I think this device is a great solution & time saver for that." Another test user stated "I gave [The StayPut Mat] to a family of a kid with cerebral palsy … and the mom is so excited. She said she's going to post in her United Cerebral Palsy group about it because everyone is always looking for a solution for holding the paper for these kids."
The writing surface provides useful sensory feedback. The mat can be placed on an angled surface (i.e. notebook binder) to create an affordable slant board. The mat can also be affixed (via Velcro) to a wall to create a horizontal writing surface.
"The prototypes have been created and tested by various user types, i.e. National Childcare supply vendors, Kids, Parents, Preschool/Daycare Directors, Occupational Therapist, Adults with limb loss or other disability," said inventor of the StayPut Mat and project creator Courtney Luper. "All users have had great, positive feedback. Teachers especially LOVE it for its ease of use and improvement to their daily class prep tasks."
